Little Saiyalings - The College Years
By: MU

Author’s Note: My sister, Chaos co-wrote this one again.  This chapter turned out to be a lot longer than I thought that it would be, but hey…that’s what happens.  The unfortunate part is that it seems that this whole party thing will go a lot longer than I had imagined.  Remember, this is only the first week of college in LSCY real-time, meaning that…wow.  Or maybe it’s the second.  I may solve that problem, but let’s just say that some of the old plot stuff will be addressed in this chapter.  (Don’t you think it’s time that a lot of the things that are building played out?)  This chapter is also a lot more serious than previous chapters, but that’s due to the nature of the “Yu-Gi-Oh!” characters.  I hope it is epic enough for everyone, and that people are okay with it not being funny all of the time.  I’m allowed to be serious once and a while.  And I promise, when we get back to the real party, there will be more humorousness...and yes, I’ll give a little bit away.  It will involve Vegeta.  Well, that’s all for now!

CHAPTER 22 – Dark Duel – Party 1, Part 3

As Goku, Yugi, and the two mindslaves went further into the darkness, all that could be heard was the beating of hearts and the slight klick-klack of shoes on metal.  Finally, Goku spoke up.  “Yugi, what does Marik want?  He’s on your football team, right?  Doesn’t that mean that you should be friends?”

“Well, sort of.  I thought that Marik had reformed after Battle City...” Yugi replied.

“Battle City?  Is that a place for fighting?”

 Yugi chortled, “Heh, sort of.”

Goku raised his finger to ask another question, but was soon made quiet by the mindslave who had formerly been Yamcha shouting, “Silence!”

As they kept going, the hallway did not seem to get any lighter, until Goku noticed a small lighted button at the just ahead of the mindslaves that they were following.  He pointed at it, and Yugi acknowledged it.  At that point, the mindslave who used to be Tristan pressed the button, and the doors opened.

“Get in the elevator,” Tristan said.

The elevator was quite cramped, and it took a while for it to get to the top of its run, where it stopped.  Finally, the doors opened.  Yugi and Goku noticed that they were looking at the backyard of the house.  Far in the distance a large hedge could be seen.

The mindslaves started toward the hedge, and Goku and Yugi followed.  The sky had blackened with clouds, and occasionally lightning would flash with a loud clap of thunder rumbling the sky afterward.  Chills ran up Goku’s spine, but Yugi seemed to be cool as a cucumber.

Far in the distance, Yugi noticed a group of people standing together.  “MARIK!”

“Well, well…Pharaoh, I’ve been expecting you.”

Marik’s voice sounded like it was right next to them, even though he was at least a hundred yards away.  Goku noticed that with the group of people was a large object, covered in a purple cloth.  He wondered what it was.

The group finally reached Marik.  He was standing with two others, who were wearing black cloaks.  Their faces were hidden in the darkness.  Marik, who stood out amongst the others with his white hair and Domino University football jersey, began to speak.

“Welcome, Pharaoh!  And it looks like you brought us a convenient guest.  Welcome, Goku.  Finally, we meet in person.  What a pleasure.”  Marik smiled, and stroked the top of a golden rod with an eyeball on it that he had been holding.

Goku squinted and said, “The pleasure is all mine.”

“It’s very nice that you’ll be present to see the last game that Yugi will ever play!”  Marik gave a little laugh, then (accompanied by his attendants), walked over to the purple clothed object.  “Now then, let’s get down to business.  Behind me is a giant hedge maze.”  Marik jerked his thumb towards the bushes.  “In the maze is a series of traps that you will be forced to deal with…but not directly, of course.”

“And why should I play your game this time, Marik?” Yugi asked.

 “This is why, Pharaoh!”

Marik grabbed the purple cloth with both hands and yanked it off of the large object.  The object turned out to be two things: a table and a woman clamped into a chair (that appeared to be an electric chair), facing away from them.  Goku thought that the woman sitting in the chair looked familiar, but he wasn’t sure so he didn’t say anything.

“If you don’t accept my challenge, then the girl will die.  Now here are the rules.  I will give you a two-way radio to communicate with one of these mindslaves, and you will navigate them through the hedge maze.  If they successfully get to the end, the girl goes free and you win.  If the person doesn’t make it to the end you have to give me your position, Quarterback, for tomorrow’s football game, as well as the Millennium puzzle.”

Marik paused for a second, giving Goku time to interject, “But doesn’t that mean that Yugi wins anyway?  Whenever I’m lost, I usually just find my way back home by accident.”

Marik’s eyes widened for a second as he looked at Goku, “You are a fool, Goku.  Do you honestly think that I would make it this easy?”

“I don’t know.  I guess I did,” Goku kind of laughed a little, but then remembered the innocent girl tied to the chair.  “Hey Marik, what’s with the girl?”

“Patience, my dear Goku.  We’ll get to that.”

Goku just decided to be quiet, and looked at Yugi.  It appeared that there was a fire in Yugi’s eyes that had been boiling for quite a long time as they looked towards Marik.  It reminded Goku of the way that Vegeta looked at him, except that there was a sense of justice from the look in Yugi’s eyes.

Marik continued to explain the rules.  “Yugi, you will sit at this table.”  Marik pressed a button on the table, and a monitor came up on a platform, as well as a pair of two-way radios, and a head mounted video camera.  He removed the items, and walked over to the mindslaves that had led Goku and Yugi to this location.  On Tristan’s head, Marik attached the video camera, and handed him a two-way radio.  “Catch,” Marik threw the other two way radio to Yugi.

“You will use the monitor to see what mindslave Tristan is seeing.  On the table is an overhead map of the maze.  You cannot turn over the map until I say to start.  Now, before I describe the rest of the rules, I need you to sit on the chair in front of the table.”

Yugi walked over to the chair, and sat down.  Two little clamps came out of the legs and locked him there.  He was now forced into doing the duel.

Upon seeing this, Goku shouted, “Marik, I can’t let you do this.  People are not puppets to be played with!”

Goku charged at Marik, but Marik reached into his pants pocked, pulled out a small device and yelled, “Stop! I wouldn’t do that if I were you.  It wouldn’t be good for the life of that girl; after all, this is the remote control for the chair.”  He cackled, “Take a look, you may know her.”

Just then, the chair rotated on some sort of electric rotor, and faced Goku and Yugi.  It was Chi-Chi!  She looked like she was in some sort of trance.  Goku’s heart skipped a beat as he suddenly felt even worse, but soon his sadness turned into anger.  “Marik…you…you…monster!”

Marik casually smirked, and then continued to speak.  “Now, if you would stand here, Goku.”  Marik pointed to a spot that was about 20 feet to the right of where Yugi was.  Goku did so, and just then, he heard a faint hum as a laser surrounded his feet about five feet away.  Soon, Goku was surrounded with concentric circles in a 10 foot radius, thereby ensuring that he wouldn’t just be able to step over or jump over the lasers.  “If you trip one of these lasers, then Chi-Chi will die.”

Goku’s jaw dropped, and then he decided to sit in the spot where he was.  What could he do now?

Marik commented, “In case you’re wondering how I could’ve gotten your precious Chi-Chi without you knowing…well, let’s just say that some of my cheerleader mindslaves planted a seed in her mind that made her stay away from you, thereby ensuring her kidnapping.”

“What do you mean?” Goku asked.

“What I mean is that your girlfriends’ cheerleader friends told her that you were looking at other girls, and might break up with her.”  He cackled, and turned his head again towards Yugi.

“As for your part in ensuring Chi-Chi’s safety, and your victory, here’s the tricky part.”  One of the purple cloaked figured handed Marik a bottle.  Marik put the bottle in front of Yugi, along with a shot glass.  “How well can you hold you liquor, Pharaoh?”

“What do you mean?” Yugi responded.

“Well, every time that Tristan falls for a trap, you have to take a drink.  Every time that he goes into a dead end, you take two.  The traps are not deadly, but you have to get him out of them.  It’s going to very hard if you’re a little…shall we say, inebriated?  This is Zaru’s Best Liquor (A Brand of Liquor from “The Chronicles of Faust.” - MU), and it’s 180 proof…and this is just the kiddy stuff of that brand.  If you should pass out, that will automatically cause the electric chair to start…if you get my drift.  If the pawn stuck in a trap for over five minutes, the same thing happens.  So, if you lose, the girl dies.  Do you understand the rules?”

“Yes, Marik.  I’ll beat you at this game, and then…”

“And then I’LL SETTLE THE SCORE WITH HIM,” Goku interrupted.  “Chi-Chi’s my girlfriend, and if anything happens to her…”

“Bad form, Goku, you’ll have your time with me, after Yugi loses this duel.  Don’t worry; I’ve got big plans for you.”

Goku got angrier at this, but suddenly, in his head he heard Yugi’s voice.  “Don’t worry, Goku.  We won’t let anything happen to Chi-Chi.  We promise.”  The voice sounded like Yugi originally did, before he found out it was Marik who had put a Mickey in 18’s drink.  For some reason, this made Goku feel better, if only a little.

“Now, then…it’s time to begin this game.”

Yugi got ready to turn over the map of the maze, mindslave Tristan walked over to the entrance, and Goku tensed up.

“One more thing…we wouldn’t want Chi-Chi to miss the fireworks.”

Just then, Chi-Chi woke up, and was looking at Goku who was straight across from her.  She looked to her left and saw the white haired guy that she had met in the park, but he looked positively evil now.  Why was Goku surrounded by light rings?  Who were these other people, and what was wrong with Yamcha’s eyes?  “I demand to know what’s going on here!”

“Quiet, girl! You don’t want to disturb the game that will determine if you live or die?”

Chi-Chi soon realized what was going on here, and suddenly agreed.

Marik smiled, and looked at Yugi.  “Well, it appears that everything is in place.  Here we go, game START!”
