Little Saiyalings - The College Years
By: MU

Author’s Note: This is a Bulma and Chi-Chi chapter.  It deals with cheerleading, and college parties…yes, that means it references alcohol.  Be warned.  That is all, enjoy!

CHAPTER 18 – Thinning Out the Party

Meanwhile, on the same Thursday at cheerleader practice, Chi-Chi and Bulma were impassionedly discussing plans for tomorrow’s party with other members of the cheerleading squad.  Cheerleading practice for the day had been moved to the inside of the athletic building due to the rain, and since there really wasn’t a coach, they were free to discuss the details of the party that they “weren’t having” that “wouldn’t be taking place” at the chosen frat house, ΒΩΩΜ: BOOM! (Beta Omega Omega Mu).

“This is, like, gonna be the best, like, pre-football, like, game party, like, ever, or some junk!” the cheerleading captain observed.  “Is there, like, anything else that we, like, need to talk about?”

“For sure!” the co-captain answered, “Like, the big question here is, like, who’s gonna bring the beer?”

All of the cheerleaders looked at each other, except for Bulma and Chi-Chi, as they were the only freshmen on the squad, and they had never planned a party before.  The knew that, traditionally, the NCU cheerleading squad planned a (day before) pre-game party that the opposing football team was invited to, in order to show good will.  Being that most of the schools that NCU was going against in football games were rich, private schools, it really wasn’t much of a problem for those students to get some sort of transportation so they could attend the festivities.

“Come on people!”  The captain stood up, “You know that it’s, like, our job to do all of the planning.  That includes finding someone, like, to buy the beer, or some junk.”

Chi-Chi raised her hand, “Shouldn’t it be the responsibility of the supporting fraternity to buy the beer?  Besides, we shouldn’t be having drinking parties anyway…”

At that, the room went dead silent as Chi-Chi felt all of the cold eyes of her fellow cheerleaders completely stare at her, with the exception of Bulma, who expected nothing less out of her friend.  Many people tried to speak, but the statement that Chi-Chi made was so surprising to them, that the words came out a garbled mess.  Finally, after about five minutes of defining silence, the captain was able to gather the thoughts in her head (a real feat in this instance), and speak.

“Chi-Chi,” she began, “like, we know that it’s your first year.  And we can, like, forgive your naivety, or some junk…but seriously…like, do you even know what you just said?”

 “Not really,” Chi-Chi responded nervously.

“To, like, not have beer at this party, like, would be a real downer.”

“Yeah, and it wouldn’t be very fun either,” on of the junior cheerleaders that was a bit higher on the social ladder said.

“Well, don’t you think that we can have fun without drinking?” Chi-Chi proposed.

“NO!” the collective group response came back, minus Bulma, who had by this point abstained from all dealings on this particular subject.

The captain then got a sort of crooked smile on her face, as the previously rusted gears that seemed to make up her brain started grinding to a slow whirr again.  “You know, Chi-Chi, if you don’t like drinking, you, like, don’t have to show up,” she began.  “It’s not, like, a required cheerleading activity.”

Upon hearing this, Chi-Chi’s nervousness facial expression began to change to a smile as she opened her mouth to say, “Well, thanks captain!”

She was not to finish the sentence as she was interrupted, “Like, you do know that Goku said he’d be coming.”

Chi-Chi was a bit suspicious of this.  “Are you sure he said that?”

The captain looked at Chi-Chi, and then said, “For sure!  You remember that, right?” as she looked at the co-captain.

The co-captain took the hint, “Yeah, like, I remember.”  She smiled, and then added as her face drifted to a sort of dreaming look, “That Goku…he’s so fine.”  At that moment it seemed that every cheerleader sighed in unison when thinking about Goku (this time including Chi-Chi, with the only exception being Bulma).

The cheerleaders then got back to the topic of beer bringing, and Chi-Chi decided that Goku would be fine with it if he went to the party, and she didn’t.  She’d talk to him about it later.  In the end, one of the 21 year old juniors who had never bought the beer was asked to bring it, and she accepted.  The talk soon became decorations, music, and food.  For this talk, the cheerleaders divided up into “committees,” and worked out the details.  Bulma, Chi-Chi, and the other freshmen were a part of the food committee.

“Alright people, time for group again!” the captain said after everyone had due time to make the decisions necessary.  Soon everyone gathered together, and the committees shared their ideas.  At the end of it all, they decided on a price for cover charge.  Then, actual cheerleading practice went on for about an hour.

At the end of practice, as everyone was leaving, the captain called Chi-Chi over to a far corner of the room for a little chat.  Bulma, who didn’t quite trust the cheerleading leadership, decided that she’d wait in the hallway just outside of the room, and try to overhear what the captain was telling Chi-Chi.

“Hey, Chi-Chi, so, like, how do you like being a cheerleader so far?” she asked.

“Well, it’s lots of fun.  I’ve never done it before, but it makes you feel real good inside.  I like that you can give other people a positive feeling.”

“Hey, that’s great!” said the captain as she gave Chi-Chi a quick hug.  “Unfortunately, I have some bad news…well, like, the co-captain has some bad news.”

Chi-Chi panicked, “You’re not gonna kick me off of the team, are you?!?!?!!!”

The co-captain, having heard her signal, came over to join the conversation.  “No, no, Chi-Chi.  It’s, like, nothing like that.”

 “Well, what’s the problem, then?”

The co-captain put her hand on Chi-Chi’s shoulder, “Like, to be frank dear, it’s about Goku.”

“You know, like, how close the cheerleaders and the football team are?” the captain added.

 “Uh-huh.” Chi-Chi replied.

“Well, we’ve, like been hearing things about Goku, like, from other members of the football team,” the co-captain answered.

 “Okay.”

“Well, like, we heard that Goku, like, wanted to…well, ummm….like, break up with you, or some junk?”

“Really!!!!!?!!!  Who’d you hear that from?” Chi-Chi squeaked in a paranoid voice.

“Like, this guy named, Tien Shinhan, or some junk.” the co-captain replied.

“If it’s from Tien, then it might be true,” Chi-Chi started crying.

“It’s okay; dear…we’re here for you.”  Both of the captains hugged Chi-Chi, who pushed them away, and ran crying out of the room, right past Bulma.

“Chi-Chi, wait!” Bulma screamed as she ran by.  She turned around to head toward the room with the cheerleading captains in it.  As she approached, she heard laughter coming from the room.

“Like, we got her so good, or some junk!”

 “For sure!”

Bulma entered the room, with the most peeved look on her face ever.

“You two!  How could YOU!” she yelled.

“Hey Bulma, like, wasn’t that a riot!”

“No, it was the biggest disgrace I’ve ever seen!  You call yourself cheerleaders?  Geez, even Vegeta spreads more joy than you two.”

The two stopped laughing.  The captain responded, “Hey Bulma.  I don’t like your attitude.  Like, you’re off the team.”  The co-captain echoed “For sure!”

“You can’t kick me off of the team,” Bulma responded as she edged closer to the two girls.  When she was right in their face she finished, “cuz I quit!  I’ll get you two back for this later, trust me…”

At that, Bulma turned on her heels, and stomped out of the room towards the locker room.  She was the last one there.  Apparently, Chi-Chi left in a hurry…

Poor girl, Bulma thought, I better tell Goku about this…
