Little Saiyalings - The College Years
By: MU

Author’s Note: I had received a few comments about the last chapter, regarding the use of “Yu-Gi-Oh!” in the story.  Well, just to dispel all “Yu-Gi-Oh!” is not anime nay-sayers, the reason that I am using them as the first team that the LSCY gang will face is because it was my little sister’s idea…and I think it was a darn good one.  Regarding this chapter, I’m not sure that I was completely confortable writing it, so I don’t know if it is up to my usual standard…regardless,  in this chapter, we’re gonna lose a major character…or is it a minor character?  I’m not sure anymore…guess I’ll have to read to find out as well…

CHAPTER 17 – Mirror Imagination

Tired, hungry, and a little bit concerned, Goku made his way towards his dorm room.  En route, he was stopped by his resident assistant, Amun-“Ra,” who noticed he was looking a little glum.  “Is there something wrong, Goku?  You look as if you are deep in thought.”

“Oh, it’s nothing, Ra,” Goku sighed, “I’m just worried about my roommate.  It seems that everybody really has a problem with him.”

“Well, he is sort of a pompous jerk,” Amun-Ra stated, “but I think that he just doesn’t know any other way…like it’s his pride.”

“Yeah,” Goku laughed a little, “Proud is definitely the word to describe Vegeta.”  He paused for a second, and a little awkward silence followed.  “Well, I think I need to get going…and talk to him.”

 “That is not possible.”

 “Why not, Ra?”

“Vegeta just took off a few minutes ago, my friend.”

“Oh, thanks then…I guess I’ll just go to my room and think about things,” Goku replied.

“It’s good to try new things,” Ra replied, winking.

Goku arrived at his room shortly thereafter, and saw a brand new gleaming object sitting on the TV cabinet.  As he examined closer, he noticed that it said “GameBox” on it.

Great!!!  Vegeta got a "Halo Prime" for our Capsule Corp. GameBox!  That oughta help to clear my mind, Goku thought to himself.

At that very moment, the phone rang.  Goku decided not to pick it up, but picked up the video game instead.  Just then, the answering machine message came on: “You have reached the residence of Vegeta and that clown Kakarott.  If you would like to leave a message for me, Vegeta, press 1.  If you want to leave a message for that other loser, press 2.”

Goku had never paid attention to the answering machine message before, and so he actually decided to pay attention.  Just then he heard Vegeta’s familiar voice, commandingly talking into the phone. “Kakarott, I’m warning you…if you touch my new game, I’ll break you in two!  I’ve been waiting for that game for 6 months!!!  Why don’t you go play in traffic or something instead?”  *Click*

Having that option, Goku turned to his other vice…food.  He picked up the phone and decided to order about 47 pizzas, for a light snack.  Then, he watched a few movies with Krillin, who “just happened” to come over and then went to bed.

The next day, Goku was feeling a lot better about things.  Vegeta didn’t even yell at him that morning, as he had been out riding his crotch rocket the night before.  Goku knew that today was Tuesday, and that means he’d have his favorite class…Physical Training 124.

When Goku arrived at class, everything went really smoothly, especially since most of the people taking this class were on the football team.  The class was pretty straightforward: it would consist of weight training, calisthenics, aerobics, and some running.  This was already very similar to Goku’s current training regimen, so it was to be an easy “A.”

Partners were assigned in the class, and as such Goku wanted Krillin to be his partner, because Krillin was taking this class to get his Physical Education requirement for graduation out of the way.  Alas, it was not to be.  Krillin was assigned to be partners with Tien, and Goku was assigned to be partners with Cell.  The activity for today would be aerobics and some weight lifting.

Aerobics took place in a mirror room.  There were mirrors on three of the four walls, so that everyone could see if they were modeling the actions of the instructor right.  Of course, Cell claimed that he didn’t need the mirrors, and that he would be able to mimic the actions of the instructor perfectly without them.  Goku shrugged it off; everyone took their places, and then started to follow the teacher’s actions.  Most everyone got it right off of the bat, and just drifted into the pattern of either boredom, or extreme interest in the activity.

Goku fell into the second activity, and started looking around the room while he was doing the moves.  When his eyes fell on his partner, who was right next to him, he could not help but notice that Cell kept his eyes focused on the mirror in front of the classroom the whole time.  Is he looking at himself?  Goku wondered.

At the end of the first half of class, the teacher ended the activity and told everyone to go out and get a drink.  Everyone in the room left, including the instructor, except for Cell.  Goku noticed this, because he couldn’t see Cell standing above everyone else in the hall.

Goku re-entered the room where they had been practicing the aerobics to see Cell, standing a mere three or four feet in front of the mirror, staring in.  He had is left hand extended, and appeared to be looking at the details of it.  Goku approached him, “What’re ya doin, Cell?”

Cell answered back, calmly, as if at peace with himself, “Look…in the mirror.”

Goku blinked, and looked closer, now standing right behind him.  “Okay…”

“That’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen….the detail, it’s exquisite.”

 “What’re you trying to say?”

“I am Perfect,”  to Goku, Cell had never sounded so interested in anything in his life.

“Yeah, Cell…that’s great.  We’ve gotta get back to class.”

“Forget class…I’ve got much better things to study…”  he calmly replied.

 “Alright, suit yourself.”

Goku left, and finished the rest of the class.  When everyone returned, Cell was still admiring his “Perfection” in the mirrors of the aerobics room.  Everyone left…and a few days passed, until it was Thursday.  Cell was still there, and remained there after class once again….like he never left.

After Thursday’s class, Goku decided that he had never seen anything weirder…
