The Chronicles of Faust
By: Nez

Part 9

(Click here to skip to the chapter beginning)

Author’s Note:  This section marks a plateau in the plot and an ascent toward another conflict, though it doesn’t manifest itself yet.  This part is really a lot of hero worship toward the DBZ Mains (e.g. Vegeta, Goku, et al…), most of which wasn’t played out.

Lexicon:

The Female Enigma:  Refer to DBZ Episode ‘Freeza’s Counterattack.’

A Brief Peaceful Interlude (cont’d)

Several hours into the trip after departing Namek, having told only Dit and Ziganto about his planned meeting with the EGPF representative, Faust told Carolyn that they were leaving in fifteen minutes for a dinner date and that she should probably get ready.  Thirteen minutes later, without blinking an eye, she was down with Faust in the Captain's Wife's yacht and they were on their way with Ziganto following them shortly behind.

They arrived at their destination several hours later and after getting docking permission, landed on the planet and sought out their rendezvous point.  Faust and Carolyn ended up at the restaurant before their associates and took appropriate seating in order to allow Ziganto to best back them up.  Faust had worn his Saiyan dress uniform and Carolyn had decided to wear a slightly less revealing red dress than she had at their last "date."

*(In case you couldn’t tell, Carolyn likes the color red.)

Their contact turned out to be an older Major in the EGPF.  He was dressed in his police dress blues, sporting a beard and what would be later identified as a monocle.  His wife, a distinguished looking lady, was also with him.  Faust and the Major talked pleasantries for a while and then moved on to business.  Faust disclosed ten billion Zenni worth of information on The Scorpion.  They also discussed respective spheres of influence and possible trade agreements between their two respective "empires."  To that end, Faust invited the Major to review the Saiyan troops and base camp as a gesture of good faith.

*(Personally, and in character, I find this somewhat amusing.  A few thousand Saiyans are bargaining with superior position against an empire that dominates half of a galaxy.)

At this point, Carolyn excused her husband from the discussion and dragged him off to dance.  Several tangos had been played, but Faust had ignored all of them in favor of the discussion.  Carolyn got fed up with this and abducted her husband at the first opportunity.  She only managed a power up of nine thousand for the tango in her fragile state, but it was still enough to clear the dance floor and draw stares of appreciation from the crowd that circled around them.

*(The whole tango bit is starting to get a bit overused.  Almost every instance after the first of the tango was the GM’s idea.)

After the dance and routine kiss, the couple bid a good night to the Major and his wife and took their leave of the restaurant.  Ziganto, knowing what was probably going to happen, followed them to their hotel, took note of their room number.  He then checked out a room on the opposite side of the street, where he could keep an eye on things.

Checking out a room was a challenge, since Carolyn was clinging to Faust and fidgeting so much that he could barely pull out his credit chip.  After a few moments and a few questioning looks from the concierge, they got the key and made it to their room.  Upon closing the door, Carolyn threw herself around Faust and began kissing the living daylights out of him.

After spending a few moments pressed against the door, Carolyn cautioned Faust to "take it easy," when Faust bumped a spot that was still tender. A few moments later, she called a "time-out" so they didn't wreck their expensive clothing and so that they could do this whole thing "right."

Late the next morning, after taking longer than really necessary in the shower, since Carolyn professed that she needed "help" reaching some areas.  Unwilling to deny assistance to a damsel in distress, Faust obliged her with all due enthusiasm.  Finishing their business in the shower, they then met up with the Major and escorted him back to their planet under radio and sensor silence.

*(At this point, Faust is making something of an effort to conceal the location of the Saiyan home planet, as there are still many enemies out there that the Saiyans aren’t prepared to face.)

Upon returning to the new Saiyan planet, now being called New Vegeta, they got the Major settled into his quarters onboard the Galaxy class Tsufarajin cruiser since the dwellings on the surface were barely above the level of tents or huts.  After that, Faust conducted the Major on a guided tour of what the troops had already built and showed him some combat demonstrations from some of the squads that were practicing.

During the course of the tour the pair ran into Laucon, who was also doing some training.  Laucon stated some strong objections to the Major's presence (and existence) and that of the EGPF.  The Major prepared to defend himself, though he would have surely lost had Faust not stepped in between them and defused the fight.  Faust told Laucon in no uncertain terms that the Major was an official representative of the EGPF and as a result under his protection.  Faust also mentioned aside to him, that he was doing this to keep the EGPF off of their backs in the future.  Laucon reluctantly backed down and went about his business, grumbling about the whole matter.

*(One of the few instances of Laucon’s player doing actual “roleplaying.”)

Matters continued normally for several weeks, Faust directing the construction of the colony and the search for The Scorpion.  Ziganto managed to locate the Scorpion on Planet 00628, the trade planet, and sought permission to apprehend her.  Faust told him to wait pending EGPF assistance, but then he had the go ahead.  The EGPF sent five Special Forces troopers equipped with powered armor that had built in weaponry and adaptive camouflage, effectively an integrated cloaking device.

The resulting raid was a success, due in large part to the stealth capabilities of the Special Forces.  The criminal was successfully extradited and brought to a planet near the center of the universe that was home to an intergalactic criminal court of justice to await her trial.  The process of selecting a jury and locating witnesses began.

Life on New Vegeta began to settle into a routine resembling normality.  Laucon built a "ranch style" country log-house for himself and his family.  He was also planning on putting in a swimming pool eventually.  One day Faust received a communiqué from Laucon regarding the presence of a certain type of biological species and how domestic-able they were.  Apparently Beauty wanted some sort of animal to hang around the house or something.  Faust and Laucon attributed this to the "Female Enigma."  Carolyn disagreed…

*(Beauty wanted a dog.)

Events elsewhere in the universe also acted up again at this point.  The resulting output of evil power and such either knocked ki-sensitive people out cold or brought out their negative emotions in a really massive way.  Several murders were committed on the colony and much looting occurred while the guard was knocked back on its heels by the power.

*(I don’t really understand this part.  Apparently it’s when Kid Buu appears.)

After things settled down, Faust used the security camera logs to apprehend the criminals and had them placed in solitary confinement onboard one of the Galaxy class cruisers pending judgment by a military tribunal.  Two members of Crimson squad happened to be part of this party, which disturbed and disappointed Faust.

The Earth Saga

A few days after this business, Faust was contacted to be a witness for the trial of Shayla (AKA the Scorpion) at about the same time that he was contacted by Shakar to see if he could arrange expedient transport to some planet called Earth.  Faust eventually agreed after poking fun of the Earthlings and being convinced that this wasn't some sort of joke.  Jerani was yelling some stuff at Faust in the background, but as Faust barely considered her fungus, much less sentient life, he just ignored her.  Children were to be seen, but not heard.

*(Another bit of roleplaying that Faust wasn’t involved in was that Jerani was contacted, via the Kai’s, by her dead parents to give her some connection with her heritage AKA to give the player a huge hint about stuff he should be trying to do.)

Shortly after signing off with Shakar, Laucon came in with much the same request.  Faust, doubly surprised at this point said that there was plenty of room on the cruiser for a few more people.  Shortly before the cruiser was scheduled to leave, Carolyn somehow got wind of the "field trip" and insisted that the two of them (Faust and her) take a vacation and leave the children with Schill for a few weeks.  After a bit of pressuring, Faust agreed and packed his bags for Earth.

*(Railroading.  Faust rather would have not gone to Earth at the same time as Jerani.  Naturally he’d end up running into her at some point due to the increasing propensity for trouble to follow him around.)

After dealing with the whole "vacation" matter, Faust was contacted by the plaintiff for the trial of the Scorpion.  His presence was requested on the witness stand, two weeks hence.  Faust expressed his willingness to do so, however that time table would not be satisfactory, since he didn't know how long they would be on vacation.  The trial was then postponed indefinitely, pending the witnesses’ presence.

While en route to Earth, the cruiser stopped at Kimode to pick up Jerani and her entourage of Shakar, Zaru, Sprout and his significant other.  Faust generally avoided Jerani, since space ships are fragile and she seemed to be at "that time of the month."  Faust was privately wondering how many jars of peanut butter that couple went through a night to keep them together.  Faust also assigned them quarters on the outer part of the ship, as to minimize damage and to increase the ease with which he could eject her into space in case she managed to piss him off.

*(The peanut butter thing is another bad joke in our group.  I’m not even going to bother explaining it, but you can bet it’s sexual in nature.)

In the next couple of weeks all of the personnel involved ran through holo-simulators of what Earth would be like.  Faust and Carolyn went through a simulation making Earth out to be a race of people trapped in a giant computer game.  Even the strong earthlings, a particular Agent Smith, was easy to beat the crap out of, though he could do some pretty crazy moves.

*(A time killer where the characters basically watched Earth movies.)

Carolyn also experimented with different clothing types.  When the couple came out of the simulation, Faust had a mediocre opinion of the earthlings and Carolyn was sporting the "Trinity" look of skintight latex and leather bodysuits.  Her new fashion trend got rave reviews later that night…

When the cruiser arrived in the Earth system, Faust and Carolyn boarded the "Captain's Wife's Yacht" and after downloading the necessary geographical, popular and political information (not to mention holographic camouflage for their vessels) they headed down toward a chain of small islands known collectively as "Bermuda." The rest of the party was sent down in a standard landing shuttle.

Upon landing everyone put on appropriate garb and disembarked from their respective transport vehicles.  Faust, Laucon and Shakar sported the "Beach bum" look of an open Hawaiian shirt with Khaki shorts.  Beauty was dressed tastefully for the tropics while Carolyn (who has it, knows she has it and is willing to flaunt it) was dressed not quite so tastefully in an incredibly short skirt over a blue, two-piece swimsuit.  The group explored the island and arranged for their accommodations.  These earthlings used the same units of currency as the rest of the galaxy so there was little economic confusion.

*(This was another assumption we made to keep things simple.  None of us wanted to bother making up exchange rates or anything like that.)

Faust and Carolyn quickly ditched the group after finishing their business.  Faust consulted a nearby map posted in an "Information Hut" and located a deserted island some ten miles north of their current position.  Faust challenged Carolyn to a race with that island being their destination.  Faust could have left her behind easily, but he swam circles around her just to egg her on.  By the time they got to the beach, Faust had "conquered it and everything on it."  Carolyn meant EVERYTHING (her).  Before going "exploring" Faust thought that Zaru better be taking notes on this… After they had finished, the couple fell asleep in each other's arms while watching the stars later that night, upon exploring to their heart's desire.

*(Another reference to Zaru’s work in progress.)

The next morning they awoke to two particularly large power levels being raised nearby.  After determining the individuals to be Jerani and Zaru, they watched the lights flashing and felt the power levels fluctuating without even bothering to move.  Zaru beat Jerani soundly, of course, and left her in the sand to contemplate her mistakes.

*(Jerani initially meant to fight Faust, but the GM had Zaru interpose, as there was some stuff he wanted to happen before the two of them ended up fighting.)

After a bit more exploring and upon eventually untangling themselves, Faust and Carolyn returned to their Beach house and set down for a day of actual vacation, or so they thought.  On the earthling contraption called "Television" they saw a commercial for Capsule Corp. in which they saw a very distinctive hairstyle in the background…Vegeta?!

*(The way they ‘discovered’ Vegeta was a load of bull, but whatever.)

They decided to pay their prince a visit, so after ascertaining the location of where that commercial was filmed, they hired a helicopter and they were off.  Several hours later, upon arriving on Capsule Corp. grounds, they were directed toward the "Brief's" household, which was several blocks away from the information desk.  Faust thought he heard someone yelling at him from a distance, but he paid it no mind.

Upon knocking at the door, an old maid answered.  Faust identified himself and that they were there to see the Prince Vegeta.  The maid responded to this by calling Faust handsome and that she needed to get the camera to take a picture of this cute couple.  After the maid shut the door, Faust noticed Ziganto and Jerani coming up fast in a taxicab.  Wondering why the universe always had the worst possible sense of timing, he turned back to face the door.  Hopefully if he ignored them, they would go away.

*(This right here was a LOAD of bullshit.  Jerani was KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT after that fight and there was no way in hell she could have been up without a Senzu bean, which she didn’t get.  I think some witch doctor came by and did something to get her going again.)

Unfortunately that was not to be the case.  After the maid returned, she snapped a picture (Faust was covering his face, not wanting to be seen in the same picture with Jerani) of the group and invited them inside.  Faust tried to lock Ziganto and Jerani out behind him, but unfortunately she managed to get her foot in the door.  The group was told to wait in the foyer, which displayed a reasonable amount of opulence.

While they were waiting, two children came running through the room.  One was dressed in orange martial arts clothing and the other had purple hair.  They were later identified as Goten and Trunks, respectively.  They quickly established their power level superiority, at which Carolyn told them to stop being rude.  They commented that she must be someone's mother and eventually moved onto petty games of which Faust was the only one bored enough of waiting to humor them so they made faces and did small hand tricks back and forth for the better part of an hour.

After exhausting their repertoire the children did a procedure called the "Fusion Dance" and merged into one being, much to the surprise of all concerned.  Needless to say, that won the contest.  A human woman with green hair then came into the waiting room.  She identified herself as Bulma, wife of Vegeta.  Somehow she mistook the group for assailants and called security since Vegeta had no friends that she knew of.  The misperception was quickly corrected in time for everyone to hear yelling (presumably Vegeta) in the background.

The voice was griping that he was hungry and needed a shower.  Bulma shouted to him that they had guests and upon her saying that, Jerani called out an insult of some sort.  Faust assumed that this was some sort of greeting or perhaps just a social dysfunction that they (she) had developed during childhood.  The voice paused at that and then started complaining that he needed to get ready for dinner, etc, etc…  Bulma left at that point, presumably to help him get dressed.

*(I really don’t know what the point of making the group wait all that long was.  Even now it didn’t really serve any discernable purpose.)

After another obscenely long period of waiting, they were finally escorted into the dining room.  Contained therein was a long table, piled high with food that was being quickly and messily devoured by an unmistakably Saiyan appetite at the far end.  Jerani moved to engage the Saiyan in conversation.  After several moments of banter that seemed to result in the shocking of Vegeta, Faust stepped in.

Faust surveyed the Saiyan for a few moments appraisingly with folded arms.  After confirming that it was indeed Prince Vegeta, Faust dropped to a knee and gave his name, rank and squad number as was formal in a royal greeting.  Faust was told to rise.  After several minutes of shocked conversation, Prince Vegeta fainted after finding out that there were at least fifteen hundred other Saiyans alive in the universe.

After being roused, Faust began to fill in the Prince as to the details of his operations and how he was enacting his cultural reforms.  Vegeta wanted to go see the planet and decided that they would leave in two week's time.  Vegeta then promoted Faust to the rank of General and also bestowed the status of "Saiyan Elite" upon Faust and Carolyn.

*(The fact that Faust was instantly put near the top of the social hierarchy demonstrates how ephemeral status really is.)
