Welcome!  This month's story is a little different...read on.

Presenting this month's Story of the Month.  It will run from the June 20 - July 18.  The month's author is GokuIsNo1 from an unknown place in an unknown country.  It is a fan fiction take on the DBZ "Cooler's Revenge" storyline.  It would be in an alternate universe.  I had to do some editing on it for the author, who I still don't know the stats on, but what the hey...here it is.  It is enjoyable.  If you want any more information about GokuIsNo1, go to the bottom of this page, after the story, or click here for author info.

The Unknown Saiyan

We were all sitting around when Bardock stumbled into the room. He had been beaten up badly. We all knew he had crossed the wrong line, and had paid the price.

"It’s Freiza…he’s coming to kill us all!” he said.

“Bardock gets beaten and it’s the end of the world,” they all laughed.

I walked past him, out the door, and down the hall. Looking out one of the windows I could see Freiza’s ship hovering close to the planet. Could Bardock have been telling the truth?

The guard at the station said, “Are you leaving ma’am?”

 “Yes,” I answered.

I entered the station and got into my pod. They would send me to some place to train not far from here. But when I left another pod was ahead of mine.

Freiza’s ship hovered dangerously next to the planet with a bunch of warriors outside its bay. Farther away I could see Cooler’s ship watching Freiza very closely. The pod ahead of mine passed through unnoticed, but Cooler found interest in mine and brought me aboard.

I fought the guards as they tried to drag me out of my pod. They beat me up a bit to keep me from getting away. Then they took me before their leader, Cooler.

He smiled as I knocked the guard off me. “Come, I want you to see something.”

I watched as Freiza created a very large energy ball at the tip of his finger. He tossed it into his a man and down to the planet below. The planet blew up along with my life and friends.

The guards pulled me away from the horrific scene kicking and screaming, “Nooooooooo……….”

They pushed me into a very small and dark room. I jumped up but, they shut the door before I got even close. A large amount of anger filled me as I tried to beat down the door to no avail.

I was left there for years with just enough food and water to keep me alive. Light never came and shone on me, until 20 years later when a guard opened the door.

I never tried to get past him or escape. Keeping the light from my eyes was my biggest concern. I shied away from him when he reached for my arm. My self had been lost in that room somewhere, and now Cooler had called.

I stood before him, but didn’t say anything. Cooler stood up smugly as the guard shoved me to the floor. Coughing a little I pushed myself onto my feet once more, stumbling slightly from getting up too fast. I took a deep breath.

“I have a job for you,” Cooler paused, waiting for me to say something.

All I did was nod my head.

“I’ve just found out that my brother has been defeated, by a Saiyan. He is on a planet called Earth. You are to go down and have him join us.”

I didn’t object to the order. In the end I would be forced to do what he asked. If this Saiyan didn’t join, maybe my failure would end my problems.

 “Do you agree to this?”

 I nodded again.

 “Answer me!!”

I cleared my throat, “Yes sir…”

“I want you to do everything in your power to get him here, at the very least.”

The guard grabbed my arm once again and led me off to the launching station. They stuck me in a pod, launching me off to the strange planet of blues and greens. The landing made a huge crater that went on forever.

Stumbling out of the crater, I struggled to get my eyes to adjust to the blearing bright light. The dark forest just next to my target’s house gave relief to my eyes. Still, I didn’t need my eyes to feel the Ki of the boy ahead of me.

It had to of been the Saiyan I was looking for. One of the guards had said that there were only four or five Saiyans left, but now two have been killed…and I am no longer one. I was stripped of my honor a long time ago. That thought quickly left my head when the boy finally came into sight.

I grabbed him by the tail and he went limp before he knew what was happening. Turning back, I wandered to my pod keeping a tight grip on the kid’s tail.

From behind me, a voice rang out, “Gohan!”

The boy rustled in my grip, so that must’ve been his name. It didn’t sound Saiyan, but what did that matter to me? I thought I would be off of this planet soon, and the boy with me.

At that moment it hit me. Why was I sent to do this? I felt something coming, but couldn’t follow it. Standing as still as possible, I tried to locate the power. It stopped behind me and started to grow.

“Put Gohan down,” the person said.

I turned, “You must be who I’m looking for.”

His black hair stood tall like only a Saiyan’s could. “I don’t’ care, put Gohan down.”

I stopped, turned, tossed the kid his way, turned back and sighed, continuing to walk back to my ship. I knew that this action would cause my death, but I didn’t care. If death did come, I would welcome it willingly, and with no regrets.

Sighing again, I walked out of the forest and into the sunlight. Finding the edge of the crater that I crawled out of, a powerful Ki caught my attention. I knew who it was.

 “Stop!” Cooler commanded.

I looked up and smiled, daringly, “No.”

I started to walk past him and into the crater. “I’ll kill you where you stand!” he said.

 “Then do it.”

He pointed a single finger at me. I turned around and made sure to stand still so that he couldn’t miss. I could see he was ready to fire. I closed my eyes.

The shot was fired, finally, but a body hit mine first. We tumbled to a halt just moments before I should have been dead. Getting the blur of my vision into focus was a struggle for my weary eyes. When I did manage, I really wished I had died.

The other Saiyan, the older one, had saved me. I would have to repay my debt to him, some how. He stood tall over me, and challenged Cooler to come and get him. I know from experience that anyone who challenged Cooler would need help at some point.

I got to my feet and felt ashamed. Fighting the urge to throw up, I watched as the rocks around me began to rise. The power I felt from both of them nearly made me want to run for my life.

“You are going to die, here and now, Saiyan,” Cooler taunted the Saiyan.

“My name is Goku, and I will not allow you to kill anyone,” the Saiyan replied.

“We shall see about that, Saiyan.”

They exchanged blows, warming up for the fight ahead. A smile spread across Cooler’s face. Strangely enough, Goku also had a smile on his face.

Suddenly, a small bald man came running out of nowhere. “Goku!” he called.

Goku turned his head to see who called out his name. This was a fatal mistake on Goku’s part. Cooler took advantage of the distraction and shot Goku with his eye beams. The beams not only hit, but tore through him.

He fell like a stoned from the sky, hitting the ground with a dull thump. The bald man stared, disbelieving what he had just done to Goku. I stifled a laugh. What kind of a fighter makes a mistake like that?

Gohan ran to his father’s side, crying all and saying “Daddy!”

A person with tall, black hair appeared, “Hey Baldy, get him out of here!”

 “Vegeta!” Cooler cursed.

“So you’re Freiza’s brother? I’d heard of you, Cooler,” he started to laugh at the thought, “Never underestimate the power of a Saiyan.”

“And why is that?” Cooler sounded bored.

“Because the strong survive,” Vegeta started.

“And the weak shall perish,” I finished for him.

He turned and stared at me. Quickly I ducked back into the forest and ran. Vegeta would have to fight Cooler before coming after me.

Running brought me to nowhere quickly. The forest ended quite suddenly, turning into a burnt and desolate wasteland. A cliff had broken down, making a slight hill to it, which meant there had to be some sort of cave.

I walked a short distance before being stopped by a voice that said, “And where are you going?”

I recognized him as one of Cooler’s boys, “What do you care?”

 “I don’t,” he answered.

He hit me down to the ground, and brought me to my knees. Then, he kicked my side, causing me to collapse and gasp for air. He hit me a few more times just for the fun of it, but then he became bored so he gave me a swift kick. This sent me crashing into a cliff.

Crashing into the stone caused rocks to fall, covering my body. Dust rose up, filling the air, making it impossible to breathe. My right arm had been crushed and the left was just pinned. My legs were pinned as well. The rocks shifted, trapping me further each time that I tried to get free.

Just then, I heard the bald guy’s voice call, “Goku!”

I coughed, but it didn’t get his attention. A long silence followed, and then I heard footsteps. I tired to listen to see where they were heading, but I couldn’t focus at all.

“Hello?” the bald guy had come back.

 I coughed a little, “Help.”

The foot steps came closer, and seemed to fade at the same time. Then, a sudden light blinded me. Air rushed into the small area.

“My name is Krillin,” the bald man said.

Krillin half helped, and half dragged me to what I thought was a cave earlier. The inside was filled with gloomy faced people and animals. I collapsed when I was just inside. Gohan came to help me, but I pushed him away and dragged myself to the back of the cave.

 “Is…is she okay…Krillin?” Goku asked.

“I don’t know, Goku. She had almost died by the time we found her,” Krillin answered, I don’t know how long she’ll last.”

“I’m going to go to Korin’s,” Gohan said, “Icarus will take me.”

“Be careful, Gohan,” Krillin said, “Remember to keep your power down.”

I closed my eyes, and turned from their useless planning, and began to concentrate on my own thoughts…thoughts of Vegeta and how he had found his way to this planet. Why would he be helping these people? And why is he so much older that me?!?

“Goku! Goku!” Krillin started yelling, “Goku!”

“Sorry, I guess there’s no point in guarding a dead guy.”

A hand touched my shoulder and I opened my eyes. The sun reflected off of Krillin’s bald head like a flash of light in a dark closet. I coughed a couple of times, and turned away form him. I pulled in a small, raspy breath.

 “Are you okay?” Krillin asked.

Grumbling, I turned away and started to get up. Using the wall as a crutch, I walked to the front of the cave. I straightened up and walked a few steps from the opening. Then I stumbled, and fell.

Krillin came running. “Are you okay?” he repeated.

“I have to find Vegeta,” I said.

 “Vegeta?!? Why?”

“He is the only one who can help…”

“Please, can’t you wait until Gohan comes back?”

“No! I have…to find him.” At that point I began to have a coughing fit.

“Krillin,” Goku’s voice rang out, “someone is coming.”

I quickly got up and half-ran into the woods. Krillin seemingly forgot about me and ran back into the cave to defend Goku. Gohan had arrived and started to hand a bag to Krillin, but it was shot down burning to the floor.

I turned away after that, returning to my venture into the woods. Stumbling over rocks and other stuff, I finally made it in, only to look back. I only caught a glance of the cave and the people in it before I started coughing again.

I felt a strange fluid come into my mouth. Spitting caused me to realize for the first time the extent of my injuries. My spit had been mostly blood.

The world around me started to fade as it began to sink in. Nothing can save me from death now. After living in the darkness for so long, then being able to even go outside, it seemed that returning to that darkness would be unbearable. I passed out.

Once again, I awoke, gasping for air. But suddenly I was unable to breathe once more. Goku stood not far away glowing with a strange, golden hue. He seemed to be looking up at something. Following his gaze lead me to Cooler.

Cooler had crated a very large ball of energy. I remembered that day and it seemed that it would all play over again. The ball dropped to the ground, clearing all in its path, but Goku. I touched down right on top of him.

I could only watch as it sank deeper and deeper into the Earth’s crust. Cooler began laughing insanely just as Freiza did so long ago. Suddenly he stopped and I redirected my attention to the energy ball. It had quit sinking and had actually slowly started to rise.

Then, with a large amount of strength, Goku flung the ball through the air, right at Cooler. Goku had been too strong for Cooler, his energy beam pushed Cooler out into space. I watched as he turned into a small star in the sky, then nothing.

Goku fell back to the ground, normal once more, but unable to move. Krillin and Gohan ran to his side to congratulate him. After all, they had survived, but suddenly that idiot guy that had beat me up, burnt that bag, and lived till now, appeared.

I could hardly hear him say, “Dear,” *pause* “your dead,” and he started laughing.

An energy attack came spiraling out of nowhere. That idiot dropped to the ground, dead. Gohan began to yell somebody’s name, but no one came. They helped Goku to his feet and started to walk away.

Very carefully, I pushed myself to my feet, placing a hand across my ribs to help them stay in place. They were watching me try to walk away, and I could feel their eyes on me. Then, I felt someone lese ahead of me look us slightly. I could see yellow tipped, white boots.

 “Hello…” Vegeta said.

I kept looking at his boots instead of looking him in the face. I stood there; ready to take the abuse that undoubtedly awaited me. Nothing came, but a very unsettling silence.

“What is your name, girl?” Vegeta demanded.

My name? Did I even remember my name? Or was it possible that I never had a name at all? I continued to stare stupidly at the ground, and did not speak.

He growled, “I know you can talk. Answer me!!!”

 “I…I don’t know my name,” I whispered.

“Oh really! Then who are you? How did you know what I was going to say before?”

“My father, he used to say that very often, but not anymore. Never anymore.”

“Do you even know where you are from?”

 “Vegeta…”

“So, you think you are a Saiyan?”

 “No, I’m not.”

Goku’s voice came from behind, “Vegeta, she…”

Vegeta cut him off, “Shut up, Kakarott! How can she be from Vegeta and not a Saiyan?”

“I was lost a long time ago, when Freiza blew up the planet,” I said, “Cooler captured my ship and locked me up as I escaped.”

“Really,” Vegeta said suspiciously, “and that would make you how old?”

“I don’t know. How long has it been?”

 “Almost 25 years now.”

I was surprised, “Has it really been that long?”

 “How old?!?” Vegeta demanded.

 “Um,” I stammered, “30, I guess. I think I was 5 when it happened.”

“There is no way you are 30.”

I looked him right in the eyes, feeling mine fill with tears, “Why do you care? What if I am lying?!?!! I don’t have to stand for this.”

I shoved past Vegeta, ignoring my pains. He had turned out just like our father, and now I wanted nothing to do with him. Sadness filled me; I had thought he would be different.

I decided that I would head back to my pod and maybe find a place to live. The desire to fight had long since left me, so now my life felt worthless. No one cared about me and I didn’t care about them.

Stumbling over the rocks made every part of me ache. Tears streaked down my face as I struggled to stay strong, but I began to fail, even at this. Suddenly, I broke into a coughing fit, and couldn’t get but the slightest gasps of breath. Blackness filled my sight, and then nothing at all.

Then, as if waking from a dream, I opened my eyes. Sitting up and looking around I could tell I had been out for a while. We seemed to be on a platform in the middle of the sky.

 “What happened?” I asked.

It was Goku that answered, “Your life energy ran out, and you died.”

 “And I’m back?”

“We wished you back with Dragonballs.”

“Dragonballs? But there would have to be a Namekian…”

I was stopped short by the old Namekian that came stepping forward. A small, black guy came up next to him. With that I got to my feet.

“It seems your memory is back,” Vegeta pushed.

“It does and you, I can’t believe you! You’re just like King Vegeta, too full of yourself to even care about your own sister!” I snapped.

“If you hadn’t just disappeared for years, then show up the weakest person that I’ve ever seen. Did you think I’d just come running up saying ‘Oh, I’ve missed you so much!” Vegeta made a face, then finished, “That cue ball over there is stronger than you.”
